melbourne

i've spent the more time on the internet in the last week than the whole year, and im sure it's jut a transition stage but i have this weird slightly depressed state of mind since i got here. prolly because my days are lonely when tang is at work and i am at home. mooowww do you hear the mini violins playing in the background? such a sad state of affairs!!1

melbournians bridge this gap between bohemia and pretension - and there is a fine line i tell you. there's too much art for it to be art anymore... if you know what i mean.

love

Love is an intense feeling of affection related to a sense of strong loyalty or profound oneness.[1] The meaning of love varies relative to context. Romantic love is seen as an ineffable feeling of intense attraction shared in passionate or intimate attraction and intimate interpersonal and sexual relationships.[2] .......

The different aspects of love can be roughly illustrated by comparing their corollaries and opposites. As a general expression of positive sentiment (a stronger form of like), love is commonly contrasted with hate (or neutral apathy).......

.....is there anything Wikipedia cannot explain?

Things that are cool
my dad (he says i am cool too), weeding and mowing the garden..home made ice tea..christmas beetles..

Things that bug me
mosquitos and moths...weak tea..gossip...itchy blankets.....procrastinating on a Sunday.. power mongering politics...prejudice..

Things I should be doing instead of blogging

1. Start the 20000 words I need for lifewriting class, which I chose as a memoir focus on anorexia nervosa. I think this topic by itself feels cliche, but I'd have to remedy this by telling the story within a larger story concerning the patient's experience in public mental institutes as a way to get help for eating disorders. At the moment I'm too busy sipping my ice tea and sitting in front of the fan to realise that this could be an incredibly interesting assignment to complete.

2. Start that other 1000 word propaganda ('Writing for Creative Industries') on the P2P revolution and it's potential to produce financially viable revenue for musicians rather than record company Big Wigs. This is of course my own under-developed fantasy utopian society and I'm most likely going to fail this subject.

3. Review notes on last weeks com design lecture regarding...I dunno. Web design intro stuff.

4. Write and prepare my powerpoint presentation that deconstructs the 'arty bits' in The Science of Sleep , an awesome Michel Gondry film. I think I can possibly just squeeze that out the day before its due.

Things I've been doing voluntarily instead:
Cloud watching
Scratching Basil behind the ears
Learning Sufjan Stevens on guitar
:P :P

You know that we are living in a material world and I am a material girl

Recently, I received the following self given, pre- xmas presents packaged in Fed Ex bubble wrap. Of course, I keep the bubble wrap in a special place and I'm not prepared to display it here. For now, I'm going to brag about how well I can make special use of my scholarship money before I accidentally blow it all on Coronas and lime.

I'm still mourning the loss of Mbox Jr whose preamp tragically fried the day I thought I could whistle into it w/o a condenserc. But I hope the last year of abstaining from recording anything has given me some sort of redemption! uurrh

I'm still bidding on this one :D

1. so i managed to evade the flu epidemic.
i wore mittens. i drank Berroca.
i held my breath as i walked past the Ekka.
i emerged from the public holiday,
relatively unscathed.
tho today,
i
succumbed to a new strand of monkey-virus,
and i suspect the primary carriers are the blasians.
